What Entrepreneurship Taught Me About Building a Website and Brand Modules 5–6 Discussion Board Post By Donnetta Brown

This week’s blog assignment helped me better understand how important structure, organization, and branding are when building a website or blog.

One of the biggest things I learned is that a blog is more than just writing. It also needs strong visual and functional components like a clear header, navigation menu, sidebar, footer, and images that support the message.

When customers or readers visit a website, they want it to feel professional, easy to navigate, and trustworthy.

As a co-owner of Dee & Dee Brown LLC, I started thinking about how our blog can become more than a class assignment. It can become a long-term business asset that helps build trust, visibility, and connection with customers.

We can use blog posts to share reseller tips, lessons from college, veteran-owned business experiences, and behind-the-scenes stories about building our company while attending Washtenaw Community College online.

Another thing I found interesting was how blogs help businesses build relationships with customers.

A blog allows people to connect with your story, your knowledge, and your journey. I also learned that consistent branding matters.

Colors, fonts, layout, navigation, and images all help create a professional online identity that customers remember.
This assignment also connected back to Modules 3–4 because we previously discussed website platforms, branding, and digital communication tools.

Now I better understand how all of those pieces work together to support a business online.

For this assignment, I included a homepage header, images, blog body content, navigation links, and footer sections to help make the website feel complete and functional.

This module helped me realize that websites and blogs are not just creative tools — they are business tools that can help grow trust, visibility, customer communication, and long-term business value.
