Not Every Step Feels Big
Progress doesn’t always look like a win.
Sometimes, it looks like getting in the car and handling something you’ve been putting off.
Today was one of those days.
I went to pick up my certification test voucher at the Morris Lawrence Building.
No celebration.
No big moment.
Just a step that needed to be done.
The Part People Don’t Talk About
Everyone talks about passing the test.
Everyone talks about results.
But there’s a step before all of that: 👉 showing up to take care of what’s required
That means:
Making the call
Confirming the process
Getting the voucher
Preparing for what comes next
It’s simple.
But simple doesn’t mean easy.
Why This Step Matters
This isn’t just about a test.
This is about:
committing to growth
following through
building discipline
As a student at Washtenaw Community College, I’m not just taking classes—I’m applying what I’m learning in real time.
And as a co-founder of Dee & Dee Brown LLC, every step matters.
Because the goal isn’t just to learn.
The goal is to build something that lasts.
How This Connects to Our System
At Dee & Dee Brown, we don’t rely on motivation.
We follow a system:
1. Show Up (Content)
Document the process. Even the small steps.
2. Prep (Business)
Handle what needs to be handled—inventory, tasks, logistics.
3. Learn (Growth)
Take action that moves you forward—like certifications, training, and skill-building.
This step—picking up a voucher—falls under all three.
It’s not separate from the system.
It is the system.
This Is What Building Looks Like
There’s no shortcut here.
Just decisions like:
going anyway
doing it anyway
following through anyway
Even when it’s not exciting.
Even when no one sees it.
What’s Next
The next step is scheduling the test.
And then preparing for it.
And then taking it.
One step at a time.
Final Thought
If you’re building something—whether it’s a business, a degree, or a new direction—don’t wait for big moments to validate your progress.
Pay attention to the small steps.
Because that’s where the real work happens.
Follow Our Journey
We’re documenting this in real time—
the wins, the work, and everything in between.
