Sometimes entrepreneurship does not look exciting. It does not always look like sales notifications, perfectly edited videos, or major milestones. Sometimes it looks like walking through the student center tired after a long day, heading to class while still carrying responsibilities, health challenges, deadlines, and business goals.
Yesterday, Dominique and I recorded a simple video while walking toward the elevators at Washtenaw Community College. At first, it seemed like just another clip. But the more I watched it, the more I realized that the video represented something much bigger.
It represented consistency.
As the co-founders of Dee & Dee Brown LLC, we are building our business while continuing our education, managing real life, and staying committed to long-term goals. Some days are easier than others. Some days require more energy than we feel like we have. But we continue showing up anyway. That matters.
Social media often focuses on the polished side of entrepreneurship. People usually see the finished product, the success story, or the highlight reel. What they do not always see are the quiet moments in between:
- walking into class,
- reviewing assignments late at night,
- creating content between responsibilities,
- or simply continuing forward when life feels heavy.
Those moments count too. For me personally, being a veteran has shaped the way I approach difficult seasons. The military taught me discipline, structure, and responsibility. College has taught me reinvention. Entrepreneurship has taught me adaptability. Together, those experiences continue shaping how we build Dee & Dee Brown LLC today.
The face mask in the video was not planned for content. It was simply real life. And honestly, that is what this brand is becoming more and more about — authenticity. Not pretending everything is perfect. Not waiting until everything looks polished. Just documenting the process while continuing to move forward.
That elevator walk may seem small to someone else, but to us it represents progress.
Progress does not always happen in giant leaps. Sometimes it happens one class, one post, one system, one assignment, and one ordinary day at a time. And right now, we are still building. Still learning. Still showing up.
