June 29.
This photo was taken on Day 1 after my first knee replacement.
And while it may look like the beginning of my recovery…
the truth is, my journey had already started long before this moment.
Before the surgery… before this photo…
I was already fighting something serious.
I had blood clots.
I spent two weeks in a nursing home before the surgery, trying to stabilize and prepare for what was coming.
Then after surgery, things didn’t just “go back to normal.”
I ended up spending a full month in the hospital while doctors continued treating the blood clots.
This wasn’t a simple in-and-out procedure.
This was a process.
DAY 1: WHAT YOU’RE REALLY LOOKING AT
So when you look at this photo…
You’re not just seeing a new knee.
You’re seeing:
- Everything I went through before surgery
- The uncertainty I was still facing after
- A body that had already been through a lot
This moment wasn’t just physical.
It was mental.
It was emotional.
And I’ll be honest—
I didn’t fully understand how hard this journey would be.
People talk about surgery like it’s the solution.
But they don’t talk about:
- The waiting
- The complications
- The setbacks
- The fear of not knowing what’s next
Laying there, I wasn’t thinking about “bouncing back.”
I was thinking:
“How am I going to get through this?”
After everything—the surgery, the hospital stay—
I did go home.
But home didn’t mean things were easy.
It meant the real work started.
Recovery doesn’t come with a schedule.
It comes with:
- daily effort
- discomfort
- discipline
- and a decision to keep going
This wasn’t just about my knee.
This experience built something in me.
It taught me:
- how to slow down and listen to my body
- how to keep showing up even when I didn’t feel strong
- how to push forward without pretending everything was okay
And that same mindset is now part of everything we do with Dee & Dee Brown LLC.
This didn’t come from a business plan.
It came from real life.
- Learning what I needed to heal
- Applying it every single day
- Building strength, patience, and resilience
That’s the system.
And it works—because it’s lived, not just taught.
THIS WAS JUST THE BEGINNING
This photo captures one moment.
But it’s only part of the story.
Because what came after this…
tested me in ways I wasn’t prepared for.
And I’m going to share that too.
PART 1 OF MY JOURNEY
June 29.
Day 1 after surgery.
But not Day 1 of the fight.
Learning. Applying. Building.
